Research Paper Topics on Pollution and the Environment

Research Paper Topics on Pollution and the EnvironmentIf you are looking for a comprehensive and up to date list of research paper topics on pollution and the environment, then this article will help you. It contains some of the most interesting and insightful research paper topics that have been written in recent years. The first of the research paper topics is on environmental issues and pollution. A lot of people are involved in this area, especially environmental lawyers and environmental organizations. Research papers on pollution can also be written by researchers. Research on the effects of environmental pollutants on human health is one of the important research paper topics that is widely used by academics. The second of the research paper topics is on the online versions of scientific journals. We have online versions of scientific journals, because the methods and the content of the research papers used in those journals are better than the normal printed version. But the on line versions of scientific journals are not always an ideal way to publish research papers. There are several reasons why such papers cannot be accepted for publication in the online versions of scientific journals.Journals like Nature, Science and other similar journals have issues with plagiarism and retraction of publications. This is because scientists submit their work to these journals, and they do not always check whether the work they published has been replicated by others. Some journals try to control the way the information is shared between scientists and their collaborators. In cases like this, it is usually the job of the editors of the journals to determine whether the paper should be published or not. So, a plagiarism or a retraction of publication of a scientific paper will be highly undesirable. However, the problem with online versions of scientific journals is that it is quite a good idea to consult experts in a particular field before writing the research paper. This is because the journal editors and reviewers of online versions of scientific journals are often lay people who are not well informed about the work and about the information contained in the research paper. This means that if you want to submit your research paper to an online version of the scientific journal, you need to make sure that you have enough knowledge about the topic. So, it is best to consult the experts before submitting the research paper. You will end up paying a fee for consulting experts and you might just waste time writing a research paper that you will not be able to use.The third of the research paper topics on pollution and the environment is on topics relating to natural resources. One of the most important issues with regard to the environment is pollution of natural resources. The depletion of natural resources is the number one cause of environmental pollution. It is because the quantity of natural resources used in the production of goods and servi ces is far less than the amount of natural resources available. So, whenever there is a shortage of natural resources, there is a depletion of the natural resources.Pollution is caused when the quantity of pollutants used in the production of goods and services exceeds the quantity of natural resources that are used. This happens in the production of natural resources like oil, coal, gas, etc. so that is the reason why the environmental pollution caused by natural resources is quite important. Researchers usually go to the question of pollution and the environment to give some solutions for this problem. So, it is useful to find out as much as possible about the different pollution issues.

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Concussion Patients Essay Example For Students

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Concussion Patients Essay Concussion patients tend to have distinct symptoms that validate they are concussed. Symptoms may vary from person to person, based on how serious the injury was and how much impact the incident had on the cranial region. Although symptoms differ from person to person, some of the most common signs of a concussion are balance issues, nausea, dizziness, or sometimes blurred vision. These symptoms are easy to recognize, because, as Elaine Landau reveals in her Head and Brain Injuries book, â€Å"The effects of any type of brain damage are usually worst immediately following an injury† (Landau 24). Furthermore, because all concussion patients experience symptoms differently, doctors often determine if the injury was an open or closed head injury first, and then divide symptoms into four categories to better assess and target patients specific needs. We will write a custom essay on Symptoms And Symptoms Of Concussion Patients specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now As outlined in Landau’s work, the two major categories of traumatic brain injuries are penetrating, or open, head injury (OHI) and closed head injury (CHI) (Landau 21). Open, or penetrating, head injuries can cause more trauma to the brain than closed head injuries. Open head injuries are also known as â€Å"penetrating head injuries†, because open head injuries involve something penetrating the skull and tearing its way into the brain, such as a gunshot wound. Landau gives a further, more visual description of this, by explaining how the bullet specifically ruptures the skull and enters the brain. Landau states that, after being shot in the cranium, â€Å"The bullet tears open the scalp, cracks the skull, and scrapes apart the soft tissue as it rips into the brain. Nerve fibers within the damaged area are stretched and torn, and numerous nerve cells are destroyed† (Landau 21). Although a gunshot wou. .eep too much or too little. Doctors stress the importance of regulating sleep patterns, because â€Å"not sleeping well can increase or worsen depression, anxiety, fatigue, irritability, and one’s sense of well-being† (http://www.msktc.org/tbi/factsheets/Sleep-And-Traumatic-Brain-Injury). Inadequate hours of sleep can also cause patients to develop sleep disorders, such as insomnia (difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep) or extreme drowsiness. These are caused by a chemical and physical change in the brain and an individual’s injury affecting the chemicals in their body that help them sleep. As a result, doctors often prescribe certain medications to help regulate sleep patterns (Citing above). The side effects of sleep disorders are what make this dangerous, and it is essential that patients take these necessary precautions to prevent future disorders from forming.

Qualities of a Councelor and Change in Counselings Standards Essay Example

Qualities of a Councelor and Change in Counselings Standards Essay Example Qualities of a Councelor and Change in Counselings Standards Paper Qualities of a Councelor and Change in Counselings Standards Paper The counseling profession has experienced a great deal of change, especially during the 1990s. Several of those changes occurred in 1992; these include the changing of the AACDs name to the ACA (American Counseling Association), the adding of counseling as a primary mental health profession into the health care human resource statistics of the Center for Mental Health Services and National Institute of Mental Health, and the writing of the multicultural counseling standards and competencies, which was done by Sue Arredondo and McDavies. Another major change that occurred in the 1990s was the inclusion of counselors as providers for managed health care organizations. Two of the major trends being faced by counselors in the new century include having to serve an increasing number of clients recovering from violence, crisis situations, and trauma, and helping clients cope with loneliness and isolation. The negative characteristics of the first trend are that crisis situations and acts of violence have become more deadly and prevalent in society since the 1990s, examples of these being the Columbine massacre and the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and incidences of post-traumatic stress disorder have also become prevalent as a result of these terrible events. The positive characteristics to emerge from this trend are that counselors have begun receiving specialized training in crisis counseling in order to better serve clients, and they have been able to develop practical and well-focused action plans and strategies towards helping clients of all ages to recover. The negative characteristic of the second trend is that more individuals today are experiencing extreme loneliness and isolation than ever before. The positive characteristic is that counseling relationships have helped these individuals significantly overcome their loneliness. For their part, counselors can rise to the challenge by realizing how important they are in their clients lives and by coming to regard their profession as a calling that they are willingly answering. The five most important qualities a counselor should possess are to have the ability to listen because clients more often desire to be listened to than to be spoken to, to display empathy and understanding in order to show clients that the counselor realizes the gravity of their situation, to display emotional insightfulness so that one can tolerate and expect all types of emotions to come forth, to have the ability for self-denial so that one learns to take care of others before treating ones own needs, and to possess tolerance of intimacy which is essential since most counselor-client relationships are often long-term and very personal. In order to improve themselves professionally throughout their careers counselors must first realize that competency within the profession is directly related to how they function on a personal level. Due to this counselors should become self-aware of their personalities and attitudes, learn from their own emotional experiences while maintaining emotional stability and maturity, successfully integrate whatever counseling techniques and knowledge they acquired into their own lives, and learn to prevent or treat stress and burnout on the job. The developmental/wellness approach emphasizes that people engage in certain patterns of behavior through the various ongoing developmental stages in life. Counselors using this approach, therefore, would view a client based upon which stage his/her problem is emanating from. Oftentimes, these counselors believe that behaviors that are suitable for one stage may not be so for another. In contrast a counselor who abides by the medical/pathology approach would view a client based upon what symptoms, listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, of psychological problems he/she displays. Another point of comparison reveals that both do share the notion that external environmental and social factors must be taken into consideration when diagnosing and treating clients problems. The benefits of ethical codes are that they can serve as guidelines for helping counselors to arrive at solutions to ethical dilemmas, they demonstrate the increasing level of professionalism that the field of counseling has recently experienced, and they keep counselors liable for any misfired attempts towards solving ethical dilemmas without consulting the codes first. The limitations of these codes are that they cannot resolve certain issues, are often unenforceable, contradictions may exist within the codes, legal and ethical codes may come into conflict, and they often do not address cross-cultural issues, among other things. For making ethical decisions counselors can use the codes listed by the professional counseling associations to which they belong to and consult with colleagues, legal professionals, casebooks, or principles. There are three instances in which a counselor may be sued for malpractice; the first one is when a counselor may have to face civil liability malpractice suits for supposed invasion of privacy. The second instance of a counselor facing a civil liability malpractice suit is when a counselor is accused of defamation. The third instance of a counselor facing a malpractice suit, this time for criminal liability, is when he/she is accused of serving as an accessory to a crime. The steps that counselors can take in order to avoid malpractice suits are to familiarize themselves with those elements of the law that are shared by both the mental health and legal professions, to recognize those elements of the law that are not to be found in the mental health culture, to continuously review the ethical codes of the professional counseling associations, and finally to consult with colleagues and legal professionals over ways to overcome certain ethical-legal dilemmas.

Qatari and Bahraini conflicts over Hawar Islands in ICJ (international Term Paper

Qatari and Bahraini conflicts over Hawar Islands in ICJ (international court of justice) - Term Paper Example Despite their proximity to Qatar, the islands belong to Bahrain. As a matter of fact, these islands were the subject of a dispute between Bahrain and Qatar. Official claims on Hawar Islands by both countries started in 1935. This occurred after oil had been found in Bahrain ten years earlier. An armed conflict then ensued in August 1937. In year 1939, the British Resident in Manama decreed that the island of Hawar belonged to Bahrain. Qatar, however, continued claims on the islands in the year 1960. The Emir of Qatar criticized the 1939 agreement and tried to purchase the islands. Eventually, the Qatari cost guards prohibited the fishers from Bahrain to enter the waters surrounding Hawar Islands. Bahrain, on its part, answered with naval maneuvers and was accused by Qatar of violating its territorial waters. On twenty sixth day of April 1986, the troops from Qatari captured 29 Bahraini workers, who were nevertheless later released. Due to these incidents, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Co operation Council attempted to mediate between the two parties. As a result, Bahrain claimed the Zubara area, which had previously belonged to the Khalifa family, ruler of Bahrain, and Qatar claimed the Hawar islands. However, Bahrain took a tighter grip when its oil stocks started to dwindle. On 17 April 1992, Qatar declared new territorial water borders extending over 12 miles, and claimed a 22-mile area in which it could exert sovereignty. Bahrain immediately litigated these borders and applied the case to the International Court of Justice (ICJ, The World Court) in The Hague. There were complex legal issues involved in this dispute. It includes the legitimacy of the 1939 colonial-era decision. It also took cognizance of standards regarding territorial integrity vs. real power of territory. In this dispute, Qatar based its claim to the islands on its main concern of title and on the principle of proximity and territorial unity. They claim that the islands all lie within 12 nautic al mile of the Qatari coast, and most lie within a three nautical mile limit. Thus, they deduce that islands are an integral part of the coast of Qatar. On the other hand, Bahrain based its claim on a 1939 British decision granting them to Bahrain. It claimed that it had exercised sovereignty over the Hawar islands for over two centuries. They alleged that Qatar never exercised any competing authority. In addition to citing proofs and facts of Bahraini relations with the islands through the years, it more importantly relied on the decision given by the British of 11th of July, 1939 giving the islands to Bahrain. To give light on the said decision, it came about after Qatar charged Bahrain of illegally occupying the islands in 1937. Both the two sides requested to the British to settle the issue and the latter ruled in favor of Bahrain. Bahrain insisted that such amounted to an arbitration award. Thus, Bahrain maintained that since 1939, it had indeed maintained continuous occupation and exercised sovereignty on the islands. On the contrary, Qatar rejected the 1939 decision because it was done by the colonial power without Qatari acquiescence. Qatar has set out in clear and concise terms the basis of its claim of sovereignty over the Hawar islands. Qatar relies upon the fact that the majority of the islands and islets constituting the Hawar islands lie wholly or partially within a three-mile territorial sea limit from Qatar’s mainland, which was a limit recognized by Qatar and Great
